Sev Puri Burgers

Sev Puri is another famous chaat snack from the lands of Mumbai. You can either prepare Dahi Sev batata puri those are prepared with round puri with masala stuffed in it or you can make it with flat puri.
I gave this recipe a little twist , a new form of having these puris so that the kids would just won’t resist it , yes the innovative Sev Puris Burgers
This recipe is absolutely simple to make if you have your puris, sev and chutney ready.
All these three ingredients can be brought ready made or you can prepare it at home.
Try this at home, and do share me your experiences with your kids 🙂

Preptime: 10-15 mins

Cooking time: 5-10 mins

Serves: 4 + people

Ingredients

2 medium size boiled and peeled potatoes
2 tbsp curd
½ cup tamarind chutney
½ cup mint coriander chutney
½ cup red chutney
chaat masala as required
1 tablespoon red chili powder
1 cup fine sev
15-16 puris
1 cup sev
1 to 2 tsp lemon juice (optional)
black salt
Directions || How to prepare Sev Puri Burgers
Mix chopped potato, dahi,onion ,1 tsp of green chutney ,lemon juice,salt and chat masala.

Arrange the puris on a plate , you can decide the puris to be served each plate.

Now top each puri with the prepared mixture.

Now top the puris with mint coriander chutney, and tamarind chutney one on top of the other

Now cover all the puris with puris like a burger.

Apply red chutney at the edges of all the puris one by one and sprinkle sev over it.

Ta Da.. the new style Sev Puri Burger style is ready to be served to your naughty kids 🙂

Rice and Dal homemade cerelac(4 Months +)

Rice Dal homemade cerelac makes very handy whenever you want to make instant food for baby.

Rice is considered to a very low allergic food and it is ideal for babies to consume.Rice can be given to babies who are as young as 5 months old.Rice is a good source of B complex vitamins and proteins and easy to digest.

The health benefits of moong dal for babies include good source of vitamins, minerals, and protein
and easy to digest.

I made this rice dal porridge powder in small quantity but you can make it in bulk for a month.
Store it in air tight container and use it whenever required.Try to introduce this porridge after you have started rice and moong dal water separately for your little one.

Ingredients

1 cup Rice
3/4 cup Moong dal

Directions || How to prepare Rice Dal homemade cerelac

Rinse the rice and moong dal well with water and remove it in a kitchen towel.
Let it dry or use it directly.
Dry roast the rice in kadai, till you get a shiny, puffed up turned slight into golden brown.
Similarly dry roast the moong dal
Cool and grind to a powder. Sieve the coarse particles to get a fine powder.
Store in an airtight box in a cool and dry place.

It gets very very tough and stressful to make your kids  eat healthy especially for those fussy and picky eaters. I have gone through this pain all these 8 years as my elder daughter is one of them. So to make my life little easier , I used some tricks or some creative food art to attract her to finish her meals.

I am sharing these creative recipes for kids with you all . They look so good that most children will be tempted to give them a go.  Cheesy Potato Nuggets Tree

Potato Nuggets are yummy little bites which can be eaten as snack at any time of the day.

Filled with cheese makes it an amazing delicious cheesy bites which melts in the mouth.
They are great party starters especially for kids party.
You can prepared them in advance and refrigerated for a day or two and use it when required.

To make it more healthier option these can be baked instead of deep frying.You can also prepared all purpose flour(maida) and wheat (atta) ki roti if you fail to arrange any Pita bread.

Egg Bhurji is nothing but a Indian scrambled eggs, its one of the favorite breakfast for kids.This recipe is super easy to prepare but I added just a twist to it by including some veggie like broccoli to make it more healthier. Broccoli egg roll combination works mind blowing , the kids will not find any difference in the taste as such.(For all those veggie moms you can try out this same recipe by replacing the eggs with paneer)To encourage kids to finish their roll especially those fussy kids like my elder one , you can design the rolls in the shape of train and present it to your kids. Rice and Moong Dal water

So is your baby ready for weaning , if yes ,the first think you should introduce to your baby diet is rice water
and slowly and gradually after 3-4 days start with moong dal water.Now why rice water ??
Rice water is good for treating diarrhea and it helps to treat constipation as its smooth on digestive system.
It helps to keep your baby dehydrated, you can feed your baby every 3-4 hours a day.
Next step is to introduce Moong dal water , now why moong dal ?? among all the lentils,moong is the most safe
and non allergic food,its one of the best food for your babies.It includes a good source of vitamins,minerals and protien,also it is easy to digest.

Ingredients

For rice water

1/2 cup rice (please avoid basmati rice for your babies) I personally prefer using surti kolam.
1 cup water
salt
a pinch of asafoetida

For dal water

1/2 cup yellow moong dal
1 cup water
salt
1/4 turmeric powder
a pinch of asafoetida

Directions || How to prepare rice water

Soak the rice for 10-15 mins before cooking.
Wash well and add rice in a saucepan,add salt,asafoetida and water to it.
Boil until the rice is tender.
Strain the rice and collect the water.
Your rice water is ready.

Directions || How to prepare moong dal water

Soak the moong dal for 10-15 mins before cooking.
Wash well and add moong dal in a pressure cooker,add salt,turmeric powder,asafoetida and water to it.
Boil till 3-4 whistle.
Strain the dal and collect the water.
Your dal water is ready.

Bread slices – 6
Mozzarella cheese – grated as required

For the pizza topping

2 medium size chopped onions
2 tomatoes finely chopped
1 green bell pepper(capsicum)
1 tbsp garlic
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tbsp ketchup
1 tsp salt
Oil for cooking
Salt

Directions|| How to prepare Bread Pizza

To prepare Pizza Topping

Heat oil in a pan.

Add garlic and saute it till you get nice burnt garlic aroma.

Next add onions and saute it.

Once it turns golden brown , add tomatoes, cook till it tomatoes turns tender.

Add salt,oregano, red chilli powder, tomato ketchup and mix it well.

Close the lid and let it cook for 2 mins.

Once cooked , turn off the gas and keep it aside.

To prepare Pizza

Toast the bread and apply butter over it.

Spread 2 tsp of the prepared toppings evenly on the bread slices.

Arrange the toppings and sprinkle grated mozzarella cheese all over the toppings.

To prepare over Tava/Pan

Grease the pan with oil , place the bread over the pan

cover with a lid and let the pizza cook over low flame

Cook till the base becomes golden and crisp and the cheese has melted

Repeat the same procedure for the rest of the bread slices.

To prepare pizza in Oven

Grill in a preheated oven at 180 degree C until the cheese starts to melt. Serve immediately.

Repeat the same procedure for the rest of the bread slices.

To Serve the pizza.

Cut the breads into two parts in triangle shape and other pizza piece into square shape.
Arrange it in house shape (triangular shape pizza as roof and square shape pizza as the base) and decorate it will chilli flakes and finely chopped capsicum.

Your kids will definitely love this Bread Pizza Hut 🙂

Preparation time : 15 mins
Cooking time : 15 mins
Serves: 4 people

Ingredients

4 Eggs Or 200 gms Paneer
2 Onions Finely Chopped
2 Tomatoes Chopped
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp red chilli powder
½ cup broccoli finely chopped.
some ketchup
2 tbsp Oil
Salt as per taste

For wraps/rolls

shredded lettuce(as required)
mozzarella cheese(as required)

Directions || How to prepare Broccoli Egg bhurji

First whisk the four eggs gently with a spoon for about 4 to 5 times. Keep this aside.
Take a pan add oil to it.
Once the oil is hot , turn onions and saute it till golden brown.
Add tomatoes and saute them till tomatoes turns tender.
Add broccoli and saute it till its raw smell goes off and it turns little soft.
Add turmeric red chilli powder and salt and mix it well.
Finally add slightly beaten eggs Or shredded Paneer to it.
Now combine all of them with a spatula or flat spoon.
Keep stirring this mixture until small crumbs are formed.
Continue whisking and stirring them for about 2 to 3 mins more.
Now the egg will start cooking and will soon change its texture and color.
Cook them for more 6 to 7 mins and keep whisking,add some tomato ketchup to it and keep stirring.
Keep for more 2 to 3 mins. Switch off the gas.
Your Egg broccoli Bhurji is ready.

Directions || How to prepare Roll

Place a roti on a clean dry surface, put 1/4th portion of the egg bhurji filling on each roti.

Arrange few shredded lettuce leaves and mozzarella cheese,Squeeze few drops of ketchup and roll it up gently.

Repeat with the remaining ingredients to make 3 more wraps.

You can cut the wraps into two pieces to serve it to your kids as it will be comfortable for them to hold it.

Design the train of the wraps as demonstrated in the video.

Rice cereal is considered to be the less allergic food for babies and ideally it should be consume at the
start of 5-6 months, At the age of 5-6 months babies can start having semi-solid food. Rice has many health benefits for kids like good source of B complex vitamins and the proteins found in rice are very useful for muscle development. Its a high source of energy and very easy to digest.It can be very well mixed with milk or breast milk and introduce to babies at the early stage.After 6 months you can slowly and gradually introduce vegetables puree for kids. check this simple recipe where you can mix carrots.green peas and sweet potato puree with well boiled tender rice.
Do watch the recipe and please consult your padeatric before introducing any semi-solids food to your babies.

Ingredients

Rice and carrot puree

1 tbsp rice
1 tbsp carrot puree
1/4 cup water.

Rice and green peas puree

1 tbsp rice
1 tbsp green peas puree
1/4 cup water.

Rice and sweet potato puree

1 tbsp rice
1 tbsp sweet potato puree
1/4 cup water.

Direction || How to prepare Rice and vegetables puree for babies (6+ months)

Wash and cook the rice well in water and salt , cook the rice till its tender.
Combine cooked rice and vegetable(carrot,sweet potato or green peas) puree in a blender.
Blend it well to a smooth paste.
Remove it a bowl and serve lukewarm.
