Mix dal Pakora/Bhajji

Pakora (Fritter)or Bhajji’s is a famous recipe for Iftar and Ramadan. Pakoras are made in 90% homes at the time of iftar.Pakoray is a very tasty, light weight, and light saltish snack which taste good with tomato ketchup, raita or chutney.

I try to make different pakoras every time , sometimes aloo (potato)pakora, sometimes pyaz(onions) pakora and sometimes palak pakora.This is the first time, i tried this mix dal pakoras. I’m sharing with all this delicious and yummy mix dal pakora.

This is one of the most favorite pakora or you can say bhajji and there are so many sweet childhood memories attached to it. My mom use to prepare these Bhajji’s every tuesday to break her fast 🙂 and I used to wait for tuesday desperatley :)Mix dal pakora can also be served at tea time and snacks or even as starters.Click here for recipe

Cold Custard is a favorite in everyone’s house during ramadan , this is a must go dessert during this month.There is a little twist in this recipe as it’s a combination of custard and roohafza which gives a nice texture and taste and addition of mango cubes adds a delightful taste to it.I love to prepare this in Ramadan,It is so quick and easy to prepare yet tastes so good and different, especially after iftari prayer when you want something sweet.The best part about this dessert is that you can use any fruit, and as much fruit as you may prefer.

Sev Puri is another famous chaat snack from the lands of Mumbai. You can either prepare Dahi Sev batata puri those are prepared with round puri with masala stuffed in it or you can make it with flat puri.
I gave this recipe a little twist , a new form of having these puris so that the kids would just won’t resist it , yes the innovative Sev Puris Burgers

Egg Bhurji is nothing but a Indian scrambled eggs, its one of the favorite breakfast for kids.This recipe is super easy to prepare but I added just a twist to it by including some veggie like broccoli to make it more healthier. Broccoli egg roll combination works mind blowing , the kids will not find any difference in the taste as such.(For all those veggie moms you can try out this same recipe by replacing the eggs with paneer)To encourage kids to finish their roll especially those fussy kids like my elder one , you can design the rolls in the shape of train and present it to your kids. Maharashtrian style chicken ke kalvan/rassa or chicken curry is mindblowing curry which is prepared with onions , grated coconut,tomatoes and special kala masala.This chicken is prepared in famous kala masala(black masala) which is very popular Khandesh region.This ‘khandeshi’ style of cooking is famous in north maharashtra including cities like Dhule,Jalgoan.

Bharleli Mirchi/Stuffed Mirchi(banana pepper) Bajji

Bharli Mirchi is again of the popular Maharashtrian Style Stuffed Green Chillies deep fried using the besan batter.
My mom used to make all type of bajjis at home like onion , potato and many more but among all,this exceptional bharleli mirchi is my favorite as the tangy, spicy stuffed mirchi can be eaten with dal-rice (varan-bhaat) or roti.
In this recipe, I have used roasted peanut powder and red chilli powder as the stuffing.
Since I do not get the small mirchi here, I chose to make use of the banana pepper and since the flavor of banana pepper is not too hot , it served as perfect side dish with dal rice for kids too 🙂
So the first experiment with banana pepper turned out to be good light side dish for my family.Read more…
